HellooooooTwinklestars! OH me belly's still full from turkey and pumpkin cheesecake and more turkey, argh!
(Apparently, I talk like a pirate when my belly pooches....... )
After eating a meal that could probably feed a small country for a day, I always go for a nice long walk. Sometimes in North Florida that means an 80 degree sunshiney day walk; others, like this Thanksgiving, it's in drizzly rain under cloudy skies, bringing long-awaited cooler air. No matter what the weather is, I can tell that it is Fall.
I love to be outside in the fall-good things happen in the South when the weather kicks down a notch....
Behold Mule Day:
Men in camoflauge, girls in boots, kids in wagons. Things fried and on sticks. Cloggin, singin', arts and craft and antiques shoppin-oh, and mules. :) The first Saturday in November every year, literally tens of thousands flock to an old farmstead in Calvary, Georgia.....
This mild-mannered building is making cornmeal, bagged & sold on the right side of the picture!
That mouse down in O-Town has nothing on mule day ears!
Who doesn't love cloggers, I ask you?
Vendors selling their wares, as far as the eyes could see-on BOTH sides of this pond!
This family was great-the Dad said, "Hello, I'm not Johnny Cash..but I'm gonna sing anyway.."
Ice cream anyone? This is the Southern way to churn, y'all!
He was a rootin tootin future Cowboy in all his glory-til that bull started moooovin'.
Cowboy and I are compulsive so we have to go down EVERY aisle, oohing and aahing, eating bad-for-us things and giggling like kidlets.
Gentle reminder: Always take your mittens off before trying to eat cotton candy...
(yeah i know.....but in my defense it was COLD that day!)
The weekend after Mule Day is the Downtown Antique District's Holiday Open House in my neck of the woods, Havana. You've been there with me before, with Milo and for Halloween 2009.
There were some leftover Halloweenies...
.....some looking rather forlorn.....
.........and some lovely fall vignettes....
Mainly, though, it was awash in twinkling lights and over-the-top trees and Christmas decor galore! But.... I'm going to have to save that 'til next post, cuz there's a bowl of turkey soup with my name on it! :0)
~Wishing you tidings of comfort and elastic pants and joy~
XOXOXOX~Rhonda RoOo
PS. Yes, I really did forget to take a picture of the mules at mule day. OY! I'm just glad I remembered my camera!! :)
